About the book

Whether this book is relevant at the moment is inconsequential; your situation can change without notice. The gales of adversity appear abruptly, and nothing you do can prevent them.

This book surveys mankind’s age-old and constant companion: temptation. Ironically, this companion is not a colleague of choice. It is an intruder of the greatest magnitude, a prowler of devastating potential.

The Scripture describes the tempter as a roaring lion and admonishes the believer on how to respond. An African proverb describes the law of survival well. Every morning a gazelle wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest lion, and every morning a lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest gazelle. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you better be running.

Overcoming Temptation offers instruction to guide the believer through the turbulent waters of temptation. Each chapter concludes with points of discussion designed for small-group dialogue.
